March 10, 2009Head Royce Buddies
February 22, 2009Recently, 9th graders from Head Royce School (located just up the street from Sequoia) paid a visit to our classroom. We’ll be working on a project with our new buddies, and though we’ll only meet for 3 times during the year, it should be exciting! We’re all looking forward to the next time they pay a visit in March! In the meantime, here are some pictures from their 1st visit.

February 4, 2009Updates
January 28, 2009Hi everyone! My apologies for not updating the website in such a long time. Here’s what’s been updated:
*The post directly below this one shows a video of Sequoia watching President Obama’s Inauguration.
*Under the “Pictures” tab, I’ve uploaded PowerPoint shows that students made about various CA Indian tribes.
*Also under the “Pictures” tab, I will soon upload pictures from our Camp Arroyo trip! Enjoy!
Inauguration Viewing
January 28, 2009Hi Sequoia! Here is a video from last Tuesday, January 20, as we watched President Obama being sworn in as our 44th President.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
December 27, 2008Hi folks! Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season and is enjoying vacation thus far. I updated the pictures tab and added a new slideshow of the field trip we went on last week to the Davis Street Transfer Station, so be sure to check that out. Please leave a comment!
Have a happy new year and see you all on the 5th! Oh, and don’t forget to finish your holiday homework packet! =)
Happy Thanksgiving!
December 1, 2008Oakland Museum Field Trip
November 15, 2008We just took our first field trip of the school year yesterday (Thursday, November 13) to the Oakland Museum. We had a great time listening to a Native American educator and taking a tour of the natural sciences gallery. Check out the pictures tab for a short (but cool) slideshow!
Rot & Landfill Excavations
November 14, 2008We recently concluded our 4 Rs Action Program by learning about the 4th R – rot – and excavating the landfills we made several weeks ago (scroll down the page to see how we made our landfills)! In the last couple of weeks, we learned about the FBI (ask anyone from Room 14 about what that is!) and how they help us decompose food. We also learned that nothing happens to most of the garbage in the landfills, which is why we want to practice the 4 Rs as much as possible – to keep whatever we can out of the landfills! Enjoy the pictures! (As always, click on the Pictures tab for more.)
